A. Condo Rental Market

August 2021 rents stay flat from July 2021. CCR and RCR rents decrease by 0.2% and 1.2% respectively while, OCR rents increase by 1.0%.

Year-on-year, overall rents increase by 7.6% from August 2020.

Year-on-year, rents in CCR, RCR and OCR increase by 6.2%, 7.1% and 8.8% respectively.

Rents are down 10.9% from the peak in January 2013.
- Volumes increase by 6.6% month-on-month. An estimated 4,907 units are rented in August 2021 as compared to 4,602 units rented in July 2021.
- Year-on-year, rental volumes are 2.1% higher.
- Volumes are 0.9% higher than the 5-year average volume for the month of August.
- Breaking down by regions, in August 2021, 38.3% of the total volumes are from OCR, 32.2% from RCR and 29.5% from CCR.
- Actual volume in July is lower than the estimate given in last month's flash report.
B. HDB Rental Market
- August 2021 HDB rents increase by 0.3% from July 2021. Mature and Non-Mature Estates rents both increase by 0.3%. 3 Room, 4 Room and 5 Room rents increase by 0.1%, 0.8% and 0.2% respectively while Executive rents decrease by 0.5%.
- Year-on-year, overall rents increase by 8.6%.
- Year-on-year, Mature Estates and Non-Mature Estates rents increase by 7.2% and 10.2% respectively.
- Year-on-year, all room types record rent increases: 3 Room by 7.0%, 4 Room by 9.4%, 5 Room by 9.8% and Executive rents by 6.4%.
- Rents are down 7.3% from the peak in August 2013.
- Volumes increase by 6.0% month-on-month. An estimated 1,842 HDB flats are rented in August 2021 compared to 1,737 units in July 2021.
- Year-on-year, rental volumes increase by 5.7% from August 2020.
- Volumes are 1.1% higher than the 5-year average volume for the month of August.
- Breaking down by room types, in August 2021, 34.0% of the total volumes are from 4 Room, 37.5% from 3 Room, 23.6% from 5 Room and 4.9% from Executive.
