A. Non-Landed Private Residential Rental Market
1. Private rents increase by 0.2% in May. According to SRX Property Price Index for Non-landed Private Residential Rentals, rents increased by 0.2% in May 2018 compared to April 2018. Non-Landed Private Residential units rents in CCR remained unchanged, while those in RCR and OCR increased by 0.4% and 0.2% respectively.
According to SRX Property Price Index for Non-landed Private Rentals:

Year-on-year, rents in May 2018 increased by 0.8% from May 2017. In individual sectors, CCR, RCR and OCR posted a 1.0%, 0.5% and 0.8% increase respectively.

Rents in May 2018 were 18.9% down compared to its peak in January 2013.
2. Rental volume decreases by 3.2%. According to SRX Property, an estimated 4,674 Non-landed Private Residential units were rented in May 2018. This represented a 3.2% decrease from 4,831 units rented in April 2018.

Year-on-year, rental volume in May 2018 was 5.2% lower than 4,929 units rented in May 2017.
B. HDB Rental Market
1. HDB rents increase by 0.2%. According to SRX Property Price Index for HDB Rentals, rents increased by 0.2% from April 2018 to May 2018. HDB 3 Rooms and HDB Executive decreased by 0.4% and 0.7% respectively, while HDB 4 Rooms and HDB 5 Rooms increased by 1.1% and 0.2% respectively.
According to SRX Property Price Index for HDB Rentals:

Year-on-year, rents in May 2018 were down by 2.7% from May 2017.

Rents in May 2018 were down 15.3% compared to its peak in August 2013.
According to SRX Property Price Sub-Indices for HDB Rentals in Mature and Non-mature Estates:

Rents in Mature increased by 0.6%, while those in Non-mature Estates decreased by 0.3%.

Year-on-year, both rents of Mature Estates and Non-mature Estates in May 2018 slipped 2.7% from May 2017.
2. HDB rental volume decreases by 12.0%. According to SRX Property, an estimated 1,885 HDB flats were rented in May 2018. This represented a 12.0% decrease from 2,142 units rented in April 2018.
