This historic 3-storey conservation shophouse lies in the heart of Chinatown, situated minutes from Chinatown MRT and Telok Ayer MRT stations.
Mosque Street is a one-way street in Chinatown that connects New Bridge Road to South Bridge Road.
It was named after Masjid Jamae (Chulia), which is situated near the junction of Mosque Street and South Bridge Road.
Constructed between 1830-1835, it is one of three mosques in Singapore built by the early Chulia Indian immigrants, many of whom settled along Mosque Street in the early years of Singapore. It is also home to some of the oldest shophouses in Singapore as Chinatown was the place where many early immigrants settled.
The entrance to Mosque street has always been adorned with traditional shophouses and quaint curio shops.
Today, Mosque Street is home to a mix of Chinese eateries, Korean, Japanese restaurants, art galleries, hotels and backpackers’ hostels such as Porcelain Hotel Singapore, Hotel Mono and Zen Hostel, a popular hangout for tourists and locals.
