Raffles Place is Singapore's financial and commercial hub, named after Sir Stamford Raffles, the founder of modern Singapore. Located near the mouth of the Singapore River, it houses the central business district, important landmarks like the Fullerton Hotel, and iconic buildings such as One Raffles Place. The area is easily accessible via the Raffles Place MRT station, a key interchange, and offers a mix of historic sites and modern developments.
Chinatown MRT station is an underground Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) interchange station on the North East (NEL) and Downtown (DTL) lines in Outram, Singapore. It serves the ethnic enclave of Chinatown. Situated at the junction of Eu Tong Sen Street, New Bridge Road and Upper Cross Street, the station is near several landmarks, including the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple, Masjid Jamae (Chulia), Chinatown Point and People's Park Complex.
At present, five blocks of restored warehouses house various restaurants and nightclubs. There are also moored Chinese junks (tongkangs) that have been refurbished into floating pubs and restaurants. The Cannery is one of the anchor tenants of the place. There are over 5 different concepts in one block. Another anchor tenant, The Arena, will be home to Singapore's First Permanent Illusion Show (starting August 2008) starring J C Sum and 'Magic Babe' Ning.[6] The G-MAX reverse bungee, the first in Singapore, is located at the entrance which opened in November 2003.
