SRX Property calculated the Price-to-rent ratio, which measures the relative affordability of buying versus renting. The analysis was conducted for resold HDB by HDB Town and for Private Resold Apartments.
The price-to-rent ratio equals the home value divided by its annual rent.
More than 240,000 non-landed private properties and 150,000 HDB properties recorded in SRX and URA databases were calculated for their sales and rental X-value, and subsequently, its Price-to-Rent Ratio. These results are then aggregated to a median Price-to-Rent Ratio according to the year and town or district.
