Goodbye Zouk, Hello Rivière!

As the saying goes “Out with the old, in with the new”.

Well, that’s clearly what we’ve seen happening in Singapore over the past few years where locals have had to bid their farewells to iconic landmarks in the country such as Big Splash, Rochor Centre and Dakota Crescent to make way for new developments such as the North-South Expressway and new public housing.

You might have also heard of the recent development surrounding Queensway Shopping Centre, known for selling cheap sneakers and sportswear, of which the mall’s fate hangs in the balance as it was recently put up for an en-bloc sale.

However, the biggest closure that probably tugged at our heartstrings, especially for millennials and party animals, will be the closure of Singapore’s beloved Zouk nightclub on Jiak Kim Street. Officially closed on 2016 following numerous lease extensions since 2012, the largely sought-after 13,482 square metre site garnered a total of 10 developer bids after being put up sale, with Frasers Property securing the site with a successful bid of $955.4 million, which works out to $1,732.55 per square foot per plot ratio.

Standing in its place will be the new premium Rivière development, which includes two 37-storey twin residential tower housing 455 units, 80 serviced apartments, and three conservation warehouses that will be restored and integrated, all within the condominium.

If the crowds (around 1,000 pax) at the highly anticipated private preview of Rivière over the weekend are anything to go by, it’s clear the new condominium has much to offer or perhaps many just want to hold on to their memories of Zouk for that much longer.

So what’s so attractive about Riviere you might ask?

The first key attraction will be its location. Located right in the heart of River Valley and alongside the iconic Singapore River, you’ll now be able to make your dream of living by the riverfront a reality where each unit will enjoy unobstructed views of the 3.2km waterway.

Should you choose to reside at this luxury development, you’ll be assured of a lively and convenient lifestyle because of the Rivière’s strategic location amongst numerous shopping centres, dining establishments and the bustling Clarke Quay and Boat Quay areas close by. Moreover, Rivière is within walking distance of the upcoming Great World and Havelock stations on the new Thomson East Coast line.

Besides being a popular choice amongst millennials, Rivière is a great option for families too – with multiple reputable schools – both local and international – within a 3km radius, such as River Valley Primary School, Crescent Girls’ School, Eton House International School, and Chatsworth International School.  Furthermore, Fort Canning Park is located slightly over a kilometre away, where the family can come together to enjoy an active day out away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

If your interest is piqued and you’d like to find out more about Rivière, or to enquire or purchase units, you can easily do so by heading over to SRX’s Riviere listing site here.
