Non-landed Private and HDB rents slip in October 2015

According to the SRX Property Price Index for Non-landed Private Rentals:

• Year-on-year, rents in October 2015 were down 5.7% from October 2014.
• Rents in October were down 13.7% compared to its peak in January 2013 (134.4).
• There is no revision of rents in September.

 According to the SRX Property, an estimated 3,448 Non-landed Private Residential units were rented in October 2015. This represented a 2.7% decrease from 3,542 units rented in September 2015.

• Year-on-year, rental volume in October 2015 was 9.4% higher than 3,153 units rented in October 2014.

 B. HDB Rental Market

1. HDB rents decrease 0.5% in October. According to the SRX Property Price Index for HDB Rentals, rents decreased by 0.5% from September to October 2015. HDB 3 and 4 Room flats posted 0.5% and 1.2% decreases in rents respectively, while HDB 5 Room and Executive Room flats saw 0.1% and 1.1% increases respectively in rents.

According to the SRX Property Price Index for HDB Rentals:

• Year-on-year, rents in October 2015 were down by 3.3% from October 2014.
• Rents in October were down 7.2% compared to its peak in August 2013 (138.2).
• Change of rents in September has been revised from no change to a 0.1% decrease.

According to the SRX Property Price Sub-Indices for HDB Rentals in Mature and Non-mature Estates:

• Rents in Mature Estates experienced a 0.6% decrease, while rents in Non-mature Estates posted a 0.4% decrease in October 2015.
• Year-on-year, rents of Non-mature Estates in October 2015 dropped 4.9% from October 2014.
• Year-on-year, rents of Mature Estates in October 2015 slipped 2.8% from October 2014.

• Year-on-year, rental volume in October 2015 decreased by 7.8% from October 2014.
